How to get from Belize City to Hopkins via Shuttle

Getting from Belize City to Hopkins in the Stann Creek District, can be done in 3 ways. The best option is to book a transfer from the International Airport to this beautiful Village. The second option is to rent a car, assuming you know the road to get there. The third is by flights, this option leaves you at the airport in Dangriga where you need to take a road transfer to the Village.

Getting to Hopkins Village either by rental car or Shuttle will take on the George Price Highway, Humming Bird Highway, Southern Highway and the Hopkins Road with is now paved. It’s about 85 miles (135km) from Belize City to Hopkins, a few more miles if you are travelling from Phillip Goldson International Airport or the Municipal Airport TZA

Drive time from Belize City to Hopkins is approximately two hours and a half hours (2.5hrs). Stop along the way can be requested which adds to the time.

As we drive by the villages along the way you may want to stop, try the local foods that are going to be available to you right at the roadside.

Our Hopkins shuttle service will take you to pass the Capital city Belmopan, Cave Branch, the Inland blue hole and the junction to go to Dangriga Town. This transfer won’t take you into Dangriga Town but it can be arranged at your request.

Is Hopkins Belize worth visiting?

The fascinating Garifuna village of Hopkins is located just one mile north of The Lodge at Jaguar Reef, Almond Beach Resort and Villa Margaritaalong with many vacation rentals and Airbnbs. It is eight miles south of Dangriga and four miles off the Southern Highway. Hopkins Village is a quaint, traditional fishing village, which was established in the 19th century, considered to be the cultural centre of the Garinagu population.

Hopkins Village is a small but vibrant community of approximately 1,500 villagers. The people live mostly by fishing and recently, many have found work in the growing hotel industry. The residents are known for their friendliness and genuine hospitality and are very welcoming to visitors. It is a small village but full of rustic charm.

Know for its accessibility to both sea and jungle. Visit nearby communities such as Placencia, Maya Center or Dangriga. This village is a place to go fishing at the worlds second-largest barrier reef or explore Mayan ruins, engage with the culture. Take a running lesson and learn the ways of the small fishing village, now a booming tourist destination.
